The musical tradition of the paniolo in Hawai`i spans almost two hundred years from the first slack key music of the early 1800s, to the music played in the backyards and front porches of Waimea today. Dagan Bernstein maintains this unique form of American Roots Music with his original Hawaiian Folk music compositions and performances. By combining elements of traditional country, blues and slack key, Dagan creates a “mixed-plate” that appeals to the listener of old time string music and acoustic Americana. Singing in his smooth baritone delivery and accompanying himself with his acoustic finger picked guitar in a variety of tunings and his percussive foot drum set up, Dagan presents a one person musical journey from Hawai’i to Appalachia to the Delta and back again.

Dagan plays Farmer DownBeats and a Junior StompDrum.
