International Orders

Yes – we welcome musicians from all countries and happily ship packages around the world! Nearly half of our customers live outside the United States and we do our best to work across language and cultural borders. We have used google translator to communicate when necessary and, while not perfect, it has been very helpful. Simply copy and paste any text to translate into your preferred language.

We do not currently work with distributors or retailers and the only place to buy our instruments is through our website. We ship directly to customers around the world from our shop in Northern Michigan.

International orders are subject to taxes (or VAT) due to the destination country.  Due to the complexity and shifting nature of international shipments, our small company, Farmer Foot Drums, does NOT have you pay upfront for any form of international customs fees, VAT, duties or tariffs that may incur with international shipments above the shipping rate paid at checkout.  VAT, Duties, Tariffs, or Regional Taxes are the responsibility of the purchaser in countries outside the USA.  Each country is different, please check with your local customs office about rules and regulations that will apply to you.

Customs Fees (Tariffs, Duty) are costs that the host country charges to manage the flow of goods in and out of the country. All products go through Customs before going to the buyer, and there is a fee associated to manage this process.  To Learn more about the common rate and exceptions: https://hts.usitc.gov/?query=9206.00  The most common Customs Harmonized Tariff Number we ship our products under is 9206.00 for Percussion musical instruments (for example, drums, cymbals, shakers, etc.)

Similar to Customs Fees, VAT/Duty/Tax are a type of cost added to the price of our products.  They are fixed percentage of the value of an item. This VAT/Duty/Tax are designed to protect local businesses and industries in the host country. https://www.avalara.com/vatlive/en/vat-rates/international-vat-and-gst-rates.html or https://taxfoundation.org/vat-rates-europe-2019/

We use United States Postal Service (USPS) and FedEx for all of our shipping. International shipping can get a little tricky due to the variety of shipping costs, regulations, and size restrictions in each country. Some creativity may have to be applied to get a package to you, such as: dividing into two packages, shipping first class, or using an alternative carrier. Let us know if you’d like to explore more shipping options.

The Ordering Process

We do not currently work with distributors or retailers and the only place to order our instruments is through our website. If you have any questions along the way, please send us an email and we’ll get you sorted!

Our website is designed so musicians can order and customize instruments entirely on our website. Use the currency converter to get prices displayed in your home currency. After loading up your shopping cart, simply go through the menus to complete the shipping and billing information. We accept several different payment methods.

We work with USPS and FedEx shipping for domestic and international orders. To get the exact shipping total for your order, the best way is to load up your shopping cart and enter in your shipping information. After you select a shipping option your total will be calculated before you are asked to pay anything.

For our smaller instruments (Harp Holders, DownBeats, Add-Ons, etc) we make every effort to ship within 1-3 business days of your order. Our Toms, Snares, and Bass Drums take between 1-2 weeks to create due to their multitudes of options.  The BackBeats generally take 2-6 weeks and our FootDrums have ranged from 4-22 weeks.  Both have longer wait times due to the complexity and custom work required, but from time to time we will have inventory of our more popular choices.  I will email you the estimated lead time when an order is placed.  If you have a special request for timing, please send us an email and we will do our best to accommodate.
